K.A.M.C. Herentals our historical background
Auto-Moto-Club Herentals founded in 1924 is one of the first clubs of this kind in Belgium.
In those days there was certainly not a shortage in members not only tourists, but also participants to the various sporting activities amongst which the regularity events were very popular.
In the thirties cars became more popular and car owners compensated the membership numbers lost in the motorcycle field and assured the continuity of our club success.
May 21, 1945 a first historical date for our club. We organised and promoted the first post-war international moto-cross on the European Continent
Our “International Moto-cross der Kempen “(named after the region where we are located) became a classic event on the European continent and after a few years, in 1958, our club member René Baeten clinched the worldchampionship title; the first for Belgium.
After almost 40 years of existence the Belgian Kings court gave us the authorisation to use the predicate “King” in our name which now is “Koninklijke (King’s) Auto Moto Club Herentals”.
Our different sporting and touristic activities resulted towards the end of the sixties in an increase of active tourism riders.
Due to the increasing organisation difficulties for national and international motor-cross events our club became more active in motorcycling tourism.
Wherever you go nowadays to national or international events you can meet members of our club who at various occasions captured various prizes and trophies and intend to continue to do so.
